Business owners–Why do you direct your management to treat you’re employees like second class citizens?

nooner asked:

I want to give a warning out to every small to medium corporation that treats its employess like dogs. If you are being treated like a dog by your employer it is not your manager’s fault. It is the owner’s fault. You may not know this person. This person may never show his/or her face. However, it is this person who is responsible for treating you like crap as he/her is the person(s) who developed the corporate culture of your company. It is not in the interest of business or profit as to why you are being treated like crap. It is for the pure evilness of the owner of your corportation. It is a Vendeta that he or she had as an empolyee themself. Owners who treat their employees like SECOND CLASS CITIZENS are perpetrating the most hainess crime onto humanity. You may get away with it in this life; but rest assured in the after life; you are going to hell.

Any successful corp should understand that eventually the non respect for their employees will effect the bigger picture. It however is my opinion that the treatment or lack there of, is happening more so with middle to upper management. Some middle execs face numerous crossroads with their careers. some are exhausted with the company and transfer that energy to their staff. You often find others who have not reached the level that they want or think they should have had. Other middle management execs are threatened by the thought of an asset to the company. My examples are only given to sum up possible decrease in employee moral.
Most of the time Heads in corporate never look at their employees has you describe. They focus on bottom line. It is the job of upper and middle management to adhere to a profit making situation. That is were the break down normally occurs. Finding the right people for the right jobs is an important tool that is not focused on enough. I was always taught in business that if your entire staff has problems, It very well may not be your staff with the issues!!

There is no profit in trating employees badly. But what one person consider treating employees badly, another might see as an attempt to motivate employees beyond current performance. World class companies do look for ways to make employees more productive.

But I’ve been a software designer for 20 years. I just walked away from a well-paying job, because they did treat team members badly. Leaving a bad employer is always a solution to being treated badly and so if a company has a high level of turnover in professions that traditionally see long t
ime emplyment, this might be a warning sign.

But if I could offer just one piece of advice - don’t take it personally (even if they do). If the demands made of you are within the terms of your contract, **** it up. If they’re not, you might occassionally point out that you are being asked to go above & beyond. This might be something to mention at an annual review.
