Herbert

If the company policy and procedures handbook states there are some relational restrictions between management and subordinates they can decide at their own discretion not to consider you for employment without it being considered discrimination. Obviously, the company has no compunction about hiring near relations because both your father and mother work there. It would not be prudent to hire you as a subordinate because of the family relationship and the bias that might be assumed by other employees who may feel as if they will be treated unfairly or privileges that may be afforded to you as a sibling.

However, the company policy and procedures manual should have some language that covers this area if they are going to set a restriction against hiring siblings. There time of employment at the business is irrelevant. The fact that you are a near relation creates an atmosphere that might be considered biasness especially if the company is very small and your parents could be your supervisors.

Leo

In some offices / business houses, there is a condition that relatives of the employees need not be employed. Your parents must have been employed earlier to setting this rule or it is likely that they would have married after getting employment in the same office.

You are young and you can look out for a job elsewhere. Happy Valentine's Day.

Vincent

yes it is legal. typically, it is in a companies best interest not to employ relatives at the same branch of a company where one relative will be of a higher position than the other. this is because conflict may arrise. say one day, you get into a fight with one or both of your parents, why would you want to do what they tell you to do at work? then, you are not doing your job and they should repremand you as any other employee who does not do their job. and how can a parent fire their child and still expecgt to get along with them at home, in a normal relationship?

Brittany

no it is not discrimination....

discrimination is based on, age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, or disability.
not on who your parents are...it may be a biased decision, but that's not the same thing.

Yes, if it is in the company policy book. Many corporates won't let any family members work there. UPS wont even let a sister in law work at the same place
