Only do it if it means something to you.

I'm going to be a computer engineer with a minor in computer sciences because I want to do both. Not only do I have an interest in both, being able to have that minor and major in combination would expand my qualifications for the job I have in mind. For example, if I want to work at Raytheon, my application will show that I have an good understanding of computer engineering but also a decent understanding of computer sciences. It can make you more qualified for a job in one way or another. But, I honestly don't recommend taking an unrelated minor. You should take a minor only if it's something you are interested in and can be applicable to the job that you are aiming for (for example, you want to get into management for a translation company that translates for countries worldwide).

I would say that if you plan to take a minor, you should have a particular use for it in mind. Don't take a minor because everyone else does it and don't pass up a minor because everyone else tells you it's not worth it.</description>
