Are there any good free contact management software programs out there?

Greetings everyone,

I’ve recently started a small business and want to be able to keep track of contacts and when I’ve communicated with them. ACT seems to be the big player in this category, but I was wanting to explore the free programs out there before shelling out any money.

Can anyone suggest a freeware program with ACT’s features? Ideally, it should be a standalone application, but web-based suggestions are also welcome.

Looking for a new business?

Have a little start up money saved and would like to live near the ocean. I am a jack of all trades and my wife is a has degree in business management. Franchise is an option.
